Haddon Hall, the private residence of Lord and Lady Edward Manners, is set in the Peak District in the valley of the River Wye.
With nine hundred years of history, it is one of the oldest houses in the country and moreover one of the only houses in England to have remained in one family’s ownership for its entire existence.
Haddon is unique as it remained empty for nearly two hundred years
This extraordinary period, when time stood still in the Hall, allowed it to remain unaltered during the modernising period of the Georgians and Victorians. So venturing into Haddon is like stepping back in time, since from the 1700s the family preferred to live at their main seat, Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire.

The Wee Dram

Wee Dram is a gem in the very centre of the cobble streets of Bakewell, no more than 200 metres from Mulberry Cottage.
Their concept is very simple, they provide customers with a great range of whiskies from all around the world, such as Kentucky Bourbon, Canadian Rye, Irish, English, Welsh, Swedish, Blended Scotch and of course Single Malt Scotch Whisky to name but a few. Their selection of Arbeg whiskies is unbeatable. They conduct whisky tasting events, hosted by the Wee Dram ownerss or from guest speakers from the whisky industry.
The annual Wee Dram Fest, a festival of whisky is held each October.

The award winning Thornbridge Brewery and it's Taproom are located in the Riverside Business Park, Buxton Road which is just a 10 minute walk away from Mulberry Cottage. An excellent selection of craft ales, lager & stout.
They serve fresh beer across Cask and Keg and handmade pizzas.

The Devonshire Arms - Beeley

in a cosy corner of The Chatsworth Estate in the tiny hamlet of Beele is the The Devonshire Arms and it is the kind of country Pub that dreams are made of. The main public bar and fire place Is housed in the original 18th century building whilst pub lunches and dinners are served in both the original building and the modern extension to the side. We prefer the seat in the window near the fire! Locally sourced menu and a very good pint!
Beeley is a 15 -20 minute drive away.

In our opinion the best butcher in the Peak Park, all meat locally sourced and hung or aged to perfection. Delicious award wining sausages too. Coates supply most of the leading hotels , gastro-pubs and restaurants in the area.

Pizzutti
The mouthwatering Pizzas of Pizzutti are only a few metres away from Mulberry Cottage located in Rutland Square, Bakewell. They dont have a website so it's best and easier just to walk in and order and either wait a few minutes or pop next door for a quick drink but mmake sure you rish back to see your pizza bubbling as it comes out of their very special pizza oven.

Vey friendly and highy professional Trainers, plenty of clases and right next to Thornbridge Tap House-just saying! They have an app on App Store and welcome visitors with open arms. Lovely people.
